Ruby

Spyglass Designs' ruby jewelry is handcrafted in earrings and necklaces set in 14k solid gold, 14k gold-filled, and sterling silver. Ruby is red corundum — the same mineral as sapphire, where the red variety gets its own name. It's the birthstone for July.

Most of our ruby is natural corundum: opaque and semi-opaque stones in deep rich red, cut as raw rough teardrops, faceted drops and micro-faceted beads. You'll find bezel-set pairs, cluster chandeliers, and beaded and solid strand necklaces, plus one necklace with a mystic silverite finish and a ruby zoisite pair where red ruby runs through green zoisite.

A few pieces use simulated ruby or cubic zirconia — stones cut and colored to match. Fine transparent ruby is among the most expensive gem material in the world, so simulated stones are the practical way to wear a bright clear red.
